The Friends of Insch Hospital and Community The Friends charity was set up in 1989 following a campaign against proposed closure of the Hospital's Maternity Unit. It started as 'Friends of Insch Hospital' and a few years later added 'and Community' to respond to the changing delivery of NHS care and the need to support the Health Centre and patients being nursed in the community. We have continued to be an active group over the years, with fundraising and provision of equipment, furnishings and 'extras' for patients in Insch Hospital and the Health Centre. We also support projects within the community. These include the Day Centre that runs in Insch Kirk Hall on Monday's and Thursdays, the Insch Pins leg club, the Rothienorman Lunch Club, the Sole Mates walking groups and the Insch Tea Dances. Our Community Link Worker, Alison, is currently busy launching an IT project to help people in nursing homes and sheltered housing complexes in the Insch Health Centre catchment area access modern technology. This could mean providing help with online shopping or facilitating a Skype session to contact distant friends and family, whatever people would like help to do.
